The Story
We’ve partnered with two other Vancouver Island icons - the Victoria Royals and Mount Washington Alpine Resort to protect the wildlife unique to Vancouver Island the best way we know how.
With a delicious new beer.

The Vancouver Island Marmot
The only endemic mammal species to British Columbia, the Vancouver Island Marmot is distinct from other marmot species, characterized by its unique chocolate brown fur with white patches.
Exclusive to Vancouver Island's alpine meadows, this marmot stands out for its rarity and specific habitat needs, setting it apart from its mainland cousins.

Recovering a Wild Population
Funded primarily by private donors, the Marmot Recovery Foundation's robust breeding, release, and habitat restoration initiatives have been imperative to the survival of Vancouver Island’s marmots.
Once teetering on the edge of extinction with less than 30 in the wild, the Vancouver Island Marmot population has climbed to three hundered.
The Victoria Royals, with their mascot Marty the Marmot, Mount Washington Alpine Resort, home to the marmots, and Vancouver Island Brewing, are uniting in a shared commitment to conserve the critically endangered Wild Marmot, a species unique to the Island we call home.
