Vancouver Island Brewing is seeking a Filler Operator to join our brew crew! This specialized position works directly on our packaging line performing any and all tasks associated with packaging our products, including operating and maintaining specific brewing, canning, and kegging equipment, with a focus on can filling.
Responsibilities:
  • Operating packaging line machines/equipment in a correct, safe and efficient manner
  • Detecting malfunctions of packaging, canning, and kegging line machines/equipment and troubleshoot problems correctly in a timely manner
  • Addressing and resolving equipment issues as appropriate or liaise with Maintenance team
  • Make adjustments to machines to achieve optimal performance while following all safety protocols
  • Actively participates and is engaged in safety initiatives, problem solving, continuous improvement of line efficiencies
  • Assist maintenance with product line changeovers
  • Ensure all safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are accurately followed and documented
  • Perform housekeeping and sanitation duties as assigned
  • Ensure production records are up-to-date and accurate
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Experience, Skills & Attributes:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in brewing, packaging, mechanical operations or equivalent education to work and communicate well with all team members
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with troubleshooting mechanical and automated equipment with the ability to communicate information to supervisors/maintenance to effectively address issues
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the operator is regularly required to stand or walk for long periods of time, use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel objects tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. Must be able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl and maintain or regain their balance. Regularly required to lift and or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.

We are looking for enthusiastic service staff to join our Brewery team! As ambassadors of Vancouver Island Brewing, our Tasting Room & Retail crew are the first point of contact for our local patrons and visitors. Our ideal candidates are service-focused, professional, and are passionate about the Craft Beer industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Welcome, serve and provide excellent service to our customers and visitors
  • Provide tasting flights and product education to customers on our premium craft beer products
  • Fill growlers at our growler bar and provide samples
  • Perform customer transactions using a Point of Sale (POS) System
  • Perform opening and closing duties (ie. cash management, inventory, sanitization)
  • Adhere to Serving It Right and LCLB licensing regulation
  • Maintain inventory stock levels of beer products and retail merchandise
  • Quality Control: daily tap system checks, regular cleaning, and stock rotation
  • Provide guided tours of the brewery to small groups as required
  • Provide occasional support at craft beer events, festivals and during other promotional tastings
  • Other duties as required
Required Experience, Skills & Attributes:
  • Must be Serving It Right certified
  • Former serving, bartending or customer service experience
  • Must have cash management and POS (Point of Sale) experience
  • Passionate about craft beer
  • Beer education and/or certification is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain high levels of customer service in a fast-paced environment and while managing multiple priorities/multi-tasking
  • Ability to routinely and repetitively lift at least 50lbs
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays

Vancouver Island Brewing is seeking a Junior Sales & Merchandising Representative to join our Brewery team! We are looking for a junior salesperson with a strong desire to develop into a long-term sales career. This is also an intensive merchandising position that provides key support to our Regional Territory Managers on the Lower Mainland.
Responsibilities:

What you can expect from this role:

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Actively selling the Vancouver Island Brewing brand to on-premise and retail customers
  • Executing in store tastings, marketing events and account outlet promotions
  • Responsible for proper call rotation based on a territory route plan which includes conducting sales calls in a defined territory. (North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Port Moody, and Sunshine Coast)

Training at our Brewery to better understand the following:

  • Representing and promoting the Vancouver Island Brewing brand and upholding our core brewery values
  • Understanding operations, brewing, packaging and supply chain
  • Learning and applying our On-Premise channel standards of performance to ensure the execution of branding, program execution, conducting samplings, staff & consumer beer knowledge, draft quality audits with guidance and training from Territory Manager and Sales team
  • Learning and applying executional strategies in Retail channel (BCLS & Private Stores) stock rotation, quality checks, pricing, branding, facing, brand blocking, display builds, out of stock replenishment
  • Participating and supporting events both in and outside of the territory. Event participation includes the strong branding booth set-up, and excellence in execution to facilitate a great beer journey for consumer
  • Learning to identify key volume opportunities in both the retail and on-premise sales channels in defined territory and Region
  • Managing individual time and activities to maximize effectiveness in defined territory
  • Collaborating with peers on the execution of various events
  • Activities include selling in new distribution and displays, assessing and improving shelf placement, merchandising, setting up displays, conducting in store tastings, facing product, checking freshness of beer
  • Utilizing CRM to record sales calls and other company initiatives

 

Required Experience, Skills & Attributes:
  • Possess a driver’s license in good standing
  • Own your own vehicle/Have access to a vehicle
  • Valid Serving it Right Certification
  • Must have exceptional communication skills including the regular use of social media tools
