Financial Planning Analyst

Vancouver Island Brewing is seeking a Financial Planning Analyst to provide key support in the brewery’s business and financial planning, reporting, and analysis functions.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Financial Planning Analyst provides financial planning support to various functions within the company. The Financial Planning Analyst will support the Business Planning process by coordinating inputs across the Finance function and the wider business to produce a high quality Financial & Strategic Plan, which is used as the foundation for all business activities at the brewery.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for generating, maintaining and analyzing reports and data for monthly business unit reviews and business process improvements
  • Lead the collection/analysis of data for the Annual Plan Process and Monthly forecasting process
  • Participate in manufacturing planning, logistics and operations from a financial aspect
  • Develop business unit wide analytical tools for decision support
  • Provide cost and general ledger accounting support during the month end close process including: operational management reporting, journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation, and actual vs. budget analysis.
  • Accurate and timely analysis of Sales, Inventory, AR and AP.
  • Develop Financial Forecasting on a monthly basis by region and by product line
  • Communicate with marketing, supply chain, production, accounting and sales to build robust business case assumptions
  • Perform appropriate risk and sensitivity analysis
  • Provide senior managers and territory managers with Key Performance Indicators to drive execution.
  • Manage databases, develop ad hoc Excelreports, and prepare forecasting reports
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and statistical models for financial analysis
  • Monitor variances and discrepancy follow-up
  • Manage multiple assignments and responsibilities simultaneously to ensure the timely handling of data information and reporting
  • Create business reports, analyze trends, and perform analysis to support business decisions. The role has close and frequent interaction with the traffic channel leaders, and requires combination of strong analytical skills and business sense.

Requirements:

  • MBA or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or another related field
  • 3-5 years minimum of relevant experience
  • Accounting designation an asset but not mandatory
  • Capable of handling multiple database systems and complex data compilation
  • Proven experience assisting with cash positioning and cash flow forecasting
  • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (V lookups, pivot tables and simple macros)
  • Excellent Finance, Forecasting and Analysis skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with independent judgment to deal with ambiguity
  • Results-oriented contributor and team collaborator with a strong business acumen
  • Knowledge and experience in assisting with IT projects is an asset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Territory Manager (Mid-Island)

Vancouver Island Brewing is seeking a Territory Manager to oversee our on-premise and retail accounts based on Vancouver Island (Mid-Island).

The Territory Manager will be responsible for selling products and product lines to current and potential customers, in addition to working with licensees to generate incremental sales and educating new and existing customers on company products and programs. The successful candidate will work within a defined geographical area, with assigned budgets, but as part of a close-knit team. The Territory Manager will be expected to comply with Vancouver Island Brewing policies and procedures, ensuring that all activities are conducted within the laws of British Columbia and Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver territory volume, share, distributions, and margin contribution targets for the North Vancouver Island territory
  • Sell products and upgrade the number of product lines in accounts
  • Build strong business relationships with key customers and consumer groups
  • Plan and execute consumer programming and sales standards across all channels (retail, on-premise, and community)
  • Identify and leverage business opportunities to drive sales and acquire new customers
  • Merchandise accounts to increase visibility of brands
  • Educate bar and wait staff on products and promotions
  • Territory spend and budget management ongoing
  • Administrative duties (program feedback, action plans, and presentations)
  • Daily and weekly call pattern and planners
  • Attend both conference calls and sales meetings as required
  • Distribution drives and programs

Requirements:

  • Sales professional with 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Previous beverage alcohol (or package goods) sales experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Retains a competitive spirit
  • Knowledge about the geographical area, trends and local scene
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about craft beer and this growing industry
  • A firm understanding and ability to develop sales strategies, implement them and close deals
  • Excellent time management
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
